This presentation will overview several active research topics at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in the USA. The major areas covered will be:

• Participation of flexible loads in markets through bid-in demand and managing uncertainty-aware load participation through flexibility scores
• An open-source platform for connecting algorithms such as OPF, state estimation and FLISR with public and private distribution system datasets.
• Understanding impact of large-scale electric vehicle adoption on distribution systems and control strategies to minimize their impact.
• Using RNM-US for creating large-scale synthetic distribution systems and its integration with building planning software.
