Acrylic bone cements are the most widely fixation technique in the joint replacement surgeries. The prosthesis failure by aseptic loosening is one of the main diseases at which the patients are exposed. Bone cement properties play a crucial role in this issue. In this PhD thesis, it is addressed the incorporation of carbon based nanomaterials as a possible solution to improve the mechanical and thermal properties of these bone cements.
